At its new manufacturing plant in Le Havre, France, Siemens Gamesa (Zamudio, Spain) has begun the production of its revolutionary offshore Direct Drive (DD) wind turbine nacelles along with fiberglass-reinforced epoxy IntegralBlades. It is the biggest industrial renewable energy project in France and is the first factory in the world to manufacture both the nacelle and blade of an offshore wind turbine in one location. On the same property, work is being finished on a specialized installation hub that will allow direct loading out of wind turbine components to French offshore wind power installations.

ABB will spearhead the large-scale integration of offshore wind energy generation of hydrogen into the energy system in the SoutH2Port project along with Lhyfe and Skyborn.
ABB will utilize crucial expertise to optimize the integration of hydrogen and electricity production across the entire ecosystem, including automation, electrical, and digital technologies, as part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the companies. ABB will also lead the development of scalable, commercial energy transition projects in and around the region.
The partners want to investigate ways to integrate Power-to-X conversion technology, which can convert renewable energy sources like electricity into carbon-free energy carriers like hydrogen and sort the energy for later use. The Swedish municipality of Söderhamn will be home to the new hydrogen-generating facility.
The facility will be linked to the adjacent 1 GW Storgrundet offshore wind farm owned by Skyborn. With an installed capacity of 600 MW and an anticipated daily production rate of 240 tonnes of hydrogen, it will rank among the biggest renewable hydrogen producers in Europe.
