The largest order ever placed for Volvo electric trucks; 1,000 electric trucks will be sold by Volvo Group's Volvo Trucks unit to Swiss construction solutions provider Holcim (HOLN.S) over the course of the next seven years. Deliveries of the first 130 heavy electric Volvo FH and Volvo FM trucks will start in the fourth quarter of 2023 and continue through 2024.
With a view to placing all 1,000 trucks close to Holcim's activities in Europe, the first trucks will be shipped to countries like France, Germany, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
As businesses ramp up efforts to reach their zero-emission targets, Volvo vehicles, which expects 50% of its truck sales to be electric by 2030, has witnessed an increase in orders for electric vehicles in recent quarters.
Volvo Trucks has begun ramping up production at three sites in Sweden, France, and the United States in anticipation of increased demand. The company also plans to begin operations at a factory in Belgium in the third quarter of 2023.

The business is already a significant player in the Asian electric vehicle market and is well-established in China, where it outsells well-known rivals like Tesla. The ETP3 Panel Van, ETM6 Cargo Truck, and ETH8 Truck are now three new electric vehicles that an EV manufacturer has introduced in Poland.
Through a collaboration with Inter Cars, BYD has announced that its ETP3 panel van, ETM6 cargo vehicle, and ETH8 distribution truck will be offered in Poland. Â
