April 2023
The first price assessment for recycled polyethylene terephthalate flakes (R-PET) in India has been released by S&P Global Commodity Insights, a source of data, analysis, and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets.
More pricing transparency is anticipated as a result, particularly given the growing demand for recycled plastics in the context of the global energy transition initiatives.
The enhanced transparency will assist participants in making knowledgeable trading decisions and encourage the expansion of a fledgling recycled PET market in South Asia by offering an unbiased assessment of its market value.
The rise of environmental sustainability concerns and ambitions worldwide, which has led to major brands announcing aggressive targets for the use of recycled materials in their packaging globally, aligns with India's emergence as an exporter of R-PET flakes.
August 2023
One of the biggest dairy companies in China, Mengniu, and Dow Chemical Company have teamed up to introduce a yoghurt pouch made entirely of polyethylene that can be recycled.
This is Mengniu's first yoghurt pouch made entirely of PE that is intended to be recycled. When compared to conventional PE film products, Dow's INNATE TF-BOPE (biaxial orientation polyethylene) offers superior toughness and strength in addition to an attractive appearance, making it possible to package recyclable materials.
The yoghurt product made by Mengniu with an all-PE pouch will make its debut at the 2023 International Dairy Forum, which is scheduled to take place in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia, from August 4–7. It will initially be sold in supermarkets located throughout the city.
