A new, high-performance particle foam based on polyamide has been developed by BASF that offers special qualities for use in electric vehicle batteries or structural applications. The foam exhibits exceptional mechanical properties and a high heat deflection temperature above 120°C, rendering it perfect for usage in high-temperature scenarios. Long-lasting dependability and durability are further ensured by the foam's remarkable chemical resistance to automotive liquids. Its drop-in compatibility with current EPP tooling, which makes it an easy and affordable solution for manufacturers, is one of the new foam's biggest advantages. The foam offers excellent recyclability and is compatible with cathodic dip coating.
One such product is BASF's polyamide Ultramid Ccycled, a mass-balanced, future-focused product that encourages the use of substitute raw materials derived from the chemical recycling of plastic waste. To keep plastic waste in the material cycle, chemical recycling currently uses plastic waste that is challenging to recycle, like mixed plastics or end-of-life tires. Â

Solvay has begun producing polyamide with a 100 percent recycled content using what it refers to as preconsumer scrap. According to Solvay, the raw material for its new grade of Rhodianyl polymer is entirely preconsumer recycled polyamide scrap, which is produced at a chemical recycling facility in Brazil.
The consumer goods and engineering plastic markets can now receive high-quality recycled polyamide (PA) 6.6 from Solvay, thanks to a "groundbreaking and rigorously audited chemical recycling process."
The Santo Andre plant of Solvay, located in Brazil, is producing a new specialised grade of Rhodianyl, and the company has received SCS Recycled Content Certification.
