ID: MRFR//7021-HCR | 185 Pages | Author: Priya Nagrale| November 2024

The Automotive Foam Market, an active market within the automotive industry, always aims at positioning tactically through selecting right market share strategies to succeed in competitive market. Organizations operating in the same industry employ different strategies to carve their own niche and hence, capture a larger segment of the market. One of the strategies is to differentiate the companies by providing them with the unique and novel foam solutions to which the competitors do not have access. This implies one of the ways to achieve it is by developing foam materials with more excellent properties such as increased durability, superior lightweightness, or advanced insulation. Companies try to diversify their product lines with unique solutions to cater for customers who demand specialized equipment for their automotive applications.

Another major competitive positioning strategy is cost leadership. In a price sensitive market, certain players concentrate on the improvement of production processes, economy of scales, and supply chain to achieve cost lowering of producing goods. This gives them an edge to undercut the rival without any compromises on the quality of products which results in the widening of their customer base. Price-conscious consumers tend to patronize products that provide them with value for their money and therefore cost leadership is an efficient strategy that can accurately capture a significant share of the market.

Besides, firms engaged in the business of Automotive Foam Market frequently show a regional focus as a means of gaining a competitive edge. By determining distinct requirements and preferences of particular locations, businesses can customize production corresponding the demands of the local market. In addition to achieving this strategy through meeting expectations of customers, this strategy will create even stronger relationship with local players in the distribution chain. Through the adaptation of their product or service to meet the distinct needs of the various markets, companies can effectively further their reach and become market leaders in these regions.

In Automotive Foam Market both the cooperative alliances and the strategic partnerships are equally important in niche market. Through partnerships with car production companies, foam suppliers, or research institutes, organizations can combine their strengths, acquire knowledge, and jointly build foam technology of the latest generation. Through this joined effort, the process of product development is sped up, and on the flip side, this also offers a place for companies to tap into customers' clientele base. Through a well-connected network in the industry, businesses can widen their market share and take greater control over the industry.

Additionally, sustainability has emerged as a key factor, as consumers as well as claimers put greater stress on eco-friendly practices. Automotive foam manufacturers are developing green strategies to gain more environment-savvy customers who are becoming a larger target group. Example: This involves financing research and development to invent foam materials with reduced harm, and the embracing of sustainable production.

Automotive Foam Market Trends

  • Growing production of electric vehicles (EV) is driving the market growth

The market CAGR for automotive foam is anticipated to rise due to the rising demand for electric automobiles. The economic impact of COVID-19 has decreased demand for petrol and diesel automobiles while raising it for electric and hybrid vehicles. The shift to emissions-free motoring is driven by concerns about warming and goals to attain net-zero emissions. These EV car movements benefit the economy by lowering gasoline costs and shifting consumption away from petroleum products towards more locally manufactured power vehicles. These elements raised the demand for automotive foam, giving passengers comfort, safety, and security while driving. For instance, customers spent USD 120 billion on electric car purchases in 2020, a 50% increase over 2019. This information comes from the EV Outlook 2021. In addition, the number of electric vehicles worldwide increased by 43% in 2020 to 10 million units. The growing demand for electric and hybrid cars drives the automotive foam industry.

The market for automobile foam has seen a significant increase in the use of bio-based products. Products made from bio-based materials can assist in making the economy more sustainable and less dependent on fossil fuels. Biobased products safeguard the environment and lower associated greenhouse gas emissions, stimulating the rural economy. These organic carbon sources, which include sugarcane, biomass, and potato maize, are used to create novel, lightweight, sustainable automobile materials. Major players in the automobile foam industry are concentrating on offering technologically cutting-edge bio-based products to boost their market share. For instance, Huntsman and Catalisti entered a research project to create cutting-edge polyurethane foams for automotive applications in October 2021. The project will use bio-based components to increase the sustainability of the foams. Thus, driving the automotive foam market revenue.

BASF SE introduced, in March 2023, a range of new polyurethane foams purposely designed for the car industry.
