August 2023- Byrna Technologies is launching non-lethal self-defense weapons as alternatives to traditional firearms that can cause death. The Byrna resembles a traditional gun but fires pepper projectiles instead of bullets. Byrna Technologies has also made non-lethal shotgun shells that work with regular lethal shotgun shells in any shotgun. Ganz invented the Byrna to give people options besides deadly force to protect themselves and their families if needed.
March 2023- Guard Dog Security, a company in Florida that focuses on pepper sprays and bulletproof backpacks, has launched a gun that shoots non-lethal pepper balls from up to 60 feet away. The FireBall gun has options to shoot pepper balls, chalk balls, and rubber bullets, which can be utilized for crowd and riot control. They have put a lot of effort into making this gun affordable for both professionals and consumers, and they are enthusiastic about the influence it can have on protection, self-defense, and how they handle situations where a highly effective, non-lethal choice can be utilized.
December 2022- Detroit law enforcement is improving body cameras and procuring additional non-deadly weapons to provide officers with more options during violent interactions with residents. The new cameras will also have a backup battery that the current body worn cameras lack. The police department says the new gear was paid for with money from the general fund. Law enforcement officials state they will be examining additional non-lethal weapon alternatives moving forward. They report that police officers have already received training on the new equipment, and they aim to put it into use at the beginning of next year.
