It was announced by Telangana in February 2024 that it will partner with SGD Pharma and Corning Inc. so as to introduce state-of-the-art technologies and advanced manufacturing capabilities to the region. Through this alliance, Corning’s top-quality pharmaceutical tubing technology will be combined with SGD Pharma’s knowledge of making glass vials, among others. As part of the agreement, SGD Pharma can depend on its tubing capacities to supply primary packaging material to domestic as well as international clients from its facilities located in the Telangana region, India.
In May 2023, Ardagh group, together with Sprecher Brewing Company, made an announcement about their partnership. In addition, this would help them meet their brand and sustainability targets through the provision of beer in high-quality glass bottles for use by the brewery company after receiving continuous supplies from Ardagh Glass Packaging towards enhancing localism & environmental friendliness regarding beer & beverage containers.
Carlsberg Malaysia stated that it would collaborate with the Sabah Recycling Association to pilot a three-year program aimed at recycling glass bottles community empowerment test project in December 2022. Carlsberg’s program is slated to meet its environmental, social and governance (ESG) agenda.
In October 2022, Grupo Petropolis and the National Confederation of Industry announced that they had teamed up to implement a project aimed at improving and increasing the utilization of glass throughout the supply chain. The issue of glass packaging circularity has been addressed by the National Service for Industrial Learning under the pilot scheme, which would reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the glass lifecycle closed loop ring, raise returns on glass packaging and promote refillable containers.
July 2022:Â Ardagh Glass Packaging, Africa, declared the contracting of a USD 95 million extension of its Nigel fabrication facility in Gauteng, South Africa. The deal is more than twice the facility's volume to provide sustainable glass packaging to provide the customers' present demand, which is expected to surge in the coming years.
January 2022:Â Gerresheimer announced that it is expanding its capacities for glass vials at the Wertheim site and two other locations in the United States and China. The company was investing in production in Wertheim to increase vial capacity by 150 million units per year.
In March 2024, introduced a 75 cl bottle that has a carbon footprint and an approach to achieving carbon neutrality that has been certified by the Carbon Trust.
In March 2024, a European glass manufacturer introduced its first-ever returnable bottle with 0.33 liter for the Austrian brewing sector, which is one-third less weighty than traditional refillable bottles, with over two-thirds of glasses used in its production recycled.
