The key drivers of double diaphragm pumps market are rising investments in water & wastewater industry and increased demand of double diaphragm pumps in chemicals industry. For instance, Water UK, the representative group for water sector is planning to spend USD 2.77 billion (£ 50 billion) from 2020 to 2025 in order to upgrade water infrastructure and improve services to customers.

The upgradation of water infrastructure would require deployment of pumps for transportation and supply of water for drinking, and other applications. Diaphragm pumps find application in mining sector. Thus, the downturn in mining sector can restraint the growth of global double diaphragm pumps market.  Double diaphragm pumps are suitable for use in pharmaceutical and power generation industries. The rising investments in these sectors is expected to offer promising growth opportunities to the global double diaphragm pumps market.

Key Players

The key players of global double diaphragm pumps market are IDEX Corporation (US), Yamada Corporation (Japan), Flowserve Corporation (US), Ingersoll Rand (Ireland), Grundfos Holding A/S (Denmark), Xylem, Inc. (US), SPX Flow (US), Pump Solutions Group (US), Metex Corporation (Canada), Global Pumps (US), Graco, Inc., (US), All-Flo Pump Co. (US), AxFlow Holding AB (Sweden), Fluimac S.r.l. (Italy), and CDR Pumps Ltd (UK), among others.

Double diaphragm pumps market has been segmented on the basis of operation, discharge pressure, and end-user. Based on operation, the market is classified into air operated and electrically operated. Among these, air operated segment is expected to dominate the market.

AODD pumps are essentially leak-free as there are only stationary seals between wetted parts and outside environment. Although less wear is observed in AODD pump as compared to mechanically driven diaphragm pumps because of pressure balancing by the compressed air supply.

Based on discharge pressure, the market is classified into up to 80 bar, 80-200 bar, and above 200 bar. Up to 80 bar is estimated to hold the largest share in the global double diaphragm pumps market. The double diaphragm pumps market by end-user into oil & gas, food & beverage, water & wastewater, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, power generation, and others. The oil & gas segment is expected to dominate the global double diaphragm pumps market due to rising use of these pumps for upstream and midstream applications globally.

Double diaphragm pumps market by region is segmented into Asia Pacific, North America, Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and South America. Asia Pacific is expected to hold the largest share during the forecast period due to increasing industrialization and rising infrastructural developments in the region. China and India are the key countries driving double diaphragm pumps market in the Asia-Pacific region. Asia-Pacific is expected to grow at fastest rate during the forecast period owing to investments in water & wastewater industry in the region.

Double diaphragm pump is a type of positive displacement pump which uses compressed air as a power source. These pumps have two flexible diaphragms which reciprocate back and forth and create a temporary chamber. This chamber draws in and expels fluid through the pump. The diaphragms work as a separation wall between air and liquid. The two types of double diaphragm pumps are air operated and electrically operated.

These pumps are used in many industries for low pressure spray, fluid transfer, and other low-pressure applications requiring less than 8.5 bar pressure. Also, these pumps have fluid handling capabilities and can accommodate fluids such as corrosive chemicals, viscous and sticky fluids, dirty water and abrasive slurry, creams, gels, oils, volatile solvents, shear-sensitive foodstuffs and pharma products, and smaller solids. Double diaphragm pumps are versatile in design and function as they can handle most media types.
