Market research suggests that the demand for electric cars will go up in the coming years. The New York Times reports that over 30 million Americans are considering buying an electric car as their next vehicle. In Asia Pacific, China is leading the way in the electric vehicle market. In terms of numbers, China sold over 507,000 electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles in 2016, which is 53% more than in 2015. China is followed by the U.S. and Europe. Big players in the car market are focusing more on electric vehicles, offering a range of options from hatchbacks and superminis to sedans, large family cars, and vans. Europe is experiencing the fastest growth in the use of electric cars. In 2016, Norway had the highest electric car market share at around 29%, followed by the Netherlands with 6.4%, and Sweden with 3.4%. The electric car market in Europe is expected to shift from being in the early stages to widespread adoption in the next ten years. According to experts, market analysis, and statements from car manufacturers, around 9 to 20 million electric cars are expected to be on the roads by 2020, and this number could go up to around 40 to 70 million by 2025.
This growing demand for electric vehicles is directly related to the increasing demand for automotive climate control systems. The rise of electric cars is one of the main reasons why there is a market for climate control systems in cars. The development of advanced electric and hybrid vehicles is also expected to boost the growth of this market. The Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) reports that in China, the sale of electric vehicles increased from 190,000 in 2015 to 351,000 in 2016. In Europe and the U.S., the sales of electric vehicles also went up from 2015 to 2016.
