The world-renowned strategic, environmental, and engineering consulting firm Ricardo has backed Toyota's introduction of its first prototype hydrogen fuel cell electric light commercial vehicle, which was created in the United Kingdom.Â
Through the APC, which has been the project's primary funding source from the UK government, Ricardo has been collaborating with Toyota to create the first-ever Hilux hydrogen variant. Ricardo will now focus on completing the project's test and analysis phase, which includes vehicle performance and fuel economy, safety, durability, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning); noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH), braking, and ride handling. Ricardo will still be working with a consortium of businesses. The results of this testing will yield important information about how the fuel cell electric vehicle behaves in a variety of real-world scenarios, the kind of information that will guide future design efforts.
