    Biofortification Market Overview 


    Bihar, India, starts the nation's first pilot programme for community-based biofortified wheat farming.  The Rural Development Council (RDC) of Bihar has chosen Kurkribigha as the nation's first model village for growing biofortified wheat. About 1,800 farmers in Kukribigha village, on the outskirts of Patna, would begin growing biofortified wheat in the upcoming rabi season as part of the state agriculture department's initiative to promote farming of crops with high nutrition value and thereby combat widespread malnutrition.
