Infineon Technologies and Autotalks are working together to provide solutions for V2X communication applications; Infineon is providing its automotive-grade HYPERRAM 3.0 memory for Autotalks' TEKTON3 and SECTON3 V2X reference designs.
The V2X system-on-chip (SoC) TEKTON3 was created primarily to power connectivity-based actions. In order to manage modem and application requirements, concurrent dual-radio and full V2X software implementations often need external memory. The cost, density, and performance requirements for this external memory are reportedly met by HYPERRAM.
Day1 and Day2 radios that are operational are embedded in TEKTON3. LTE-V2X (C-V2X Rel. 14/15) or DSRC (dedicated short-range communications) are both supported by Day1 radio. Day2 radio supports either DSRC+ (IEEE802.11bd) or 5G-V2X (C-V2X Rel. 16/17/18). With full transmit and receive diversity, both radios utilize two antennas.
The primary use of Day 2 is cooperative perception, which entails that a vehicle can "see" what the other vehicle is "seeing." Two moving objects have improved road awareness when they exchange information. Also, the first V2X that can allow autonomous braking is TEKTON3-based systems, which can obtain ISO 26262 ASIL B functional-safety certification.

The chip giant Qualcomm recently announced that it would buy Israel's Autotalks, a fabless semiconductors firm that produces vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications designed to prevent collisions while improving mobility. The emergence of electric vehicles and autonomous driving technologies has increased the amount of chips needed by automakers, making the automotive industry a critical growth sector for chipmakers.
The solutions from Autotalks will be a part of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Digital Chassis product range. The transaction will be made through its subsidiary Qualcomm Technologies.
