Trivalent Chromium Finishing Market
August 2023- Frasle Mobility has initiated the commercialization of the Maxcoating Brake Disc line under its Fremax brand. Officially launched in April at the Automec fair in Brazil, the line brings discs and brake drums coated with paint that contains exclusive, patented nanotechnology to the global market. Fremax Maxcoating products receive a protective coating containing niobium pentoxide nanoparticles, which act to increase paint performance and corrosion resistance. These characteristics, associated with a water-based formulation, enable the application of thinner layers, increasing the life of the coating. Its anti-corrosion characteristic is good for brake discs and drums used in extreme weather conditions, such as regions with heavy snow where the application of salt on the roads accelerates the oxidation of car components. The company says that laboratory tests show the technology confirms approximately 1,000 hours of protection, which can double the life of the brake part. The company invested USD million Brazilian real (approximately USD600,000 in U.S. dollars) to structure a distinctive, automated production process that had to be created exclusively for the product line. The use of automation increases the versatility in the development of the components with greater precision in painting and quality assurance. It also features performance gains with ultrafast drying and low energy consumption through microwave curing during the manufacturing process.
September 2023- MKS, via its recent acquisition of Atotech, hosted a Sustainability Summit at the Motor City Casino in Detroit, Michigan, Feb. 1-2. The two-day event was designed to offer opportunities for discussion and cross-learning to help align the plating industry and establish a path forward on the implementation of sustainable technologies. More than 100 members of the plating industry were in attendance, with participants ranging from applicators to suppliers, Tier 1s to OEMs, and other industry representatives.
