October 2023- The US Space Force recently launched 2 solicitations for the upcoming round of the national security launch contracts, called National Security Space Launch phase 3. The NSSL phase 3 in fact is a procurement of the launch services which is worth a multibillion dollar projected for 2025 through 2034. The NSSL phase 3 has 2 solicitations as the Space Force has split the program in 2 lanes. The portion under lane 1 of the phase 3 of NSSL comprise low risk missions to low orbits, open for just any launch provider having a proven flight record. As over 30 missions will get awarded on a yearly basis within a decade extending from 2025 through 2034. TRACERS will be led via the University of lowa having partners at San Antonio’s Southwest Research Institute and California’s Millennium Space Systems.
