July 2023: Beacon Biosignals, the leading computational neurodiagnostics and electroencephalogram (EEG) analytics firm, is thrilled to announce the completion of its purchase of Dreem, a Paris-based pioneer in at-home sleep monitoring. This strategic purchase marks a significant milestone, paving the way for large-scale clinical trial evaluations by combining Dreem's clinically certified hardware with Beacon's next-generation EEG analytics platform. The clinical gold standard for assessing neural activity is EEG, which outperforms surrogate evaluations such as actigraphy. Beacon's technology specializes in sleep EEG analytics, providing macroarchitecture evaluations via automated sleep scoring as well as comprehensive microarchitecture analysis of aspects such as arousals and spindles, delivering deep insights into sleep quality. Longitudinal monitoring at home has the potential to advance the underlying science of sleep physiology beyond what is currently attainable with restricted evaluations in an artificial sleep lab context.
May 2023: Royal Philips provided an update on its subsidiary Philips Respironics' comprehensive test and research program to assess potential health risks associated with the polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) sound abatement foam in specific sleep therapy and ventilator devices under the voluntary June 2021 recall notification/field safety notice. The risk evaluations for the CPAP/BiPAP sleep treatment devices covered by the recall notification/field safety notice*, namely the first-generation DreamStation, System One, and DreamStation Go devices, have now been completed, accounting for roughly 95% of the registered devices globally. The evaluations build on prior updates in December 2021, June 2022, and December 2022. In addition, testing and analyses for first-generation DreamStation devices exposed to ozone cleaning have been conducted.List of Sleep Testing Services Key companies in the market
