July 2023- In a novel strategic collaboration, Santa Clara and Boeing announced that they have joined hands to advance the semiconductor technology all over the aerospace sector with an intent of creating next-generation microelectronics application in AI, secure computing & an advanced flight capability for the future products. This partnership will help in accelerating progress on the key pillars within the brand’s vision for the aerospace industry’s future with an emphasis on technologies which are digital, producible, sustainable and autonomous.
July 2023- Airbus and STMicroelectronics have joined hands for cooperating on research of the power electronics for supporting more lighter and efficient power electronics crucial for the future hybrid-powered aircraft & full-electric urban air vehicles. This collaboration develops on evaluations conducted already by both companies for exploring the perks of the wide bandgap semiconductor material for the aircraft electrification. The wide bandgap semiconductors such as gallium nitride and silicon carbide possess superior electrical properties over the traditional semiconductors such as silicon.
July 2023- The US military electronics professionals are reaching out to the industry for information to aid them in establishing a domestic research centre for the fabrication of 3DHI microsystems. It will focus into heterogeneously interconnected components for the commercial and defence companies. The technologies of interest include MEMs, photonics, compound semiconductors, digital logic, RF, analog, power, and memory. DARPA’s expansion to the heterogeneous integration also comprises compound semiconductors for the RF & photonics for interconnect, new memory devices for computing & ultra-wide and wide-bandgap semiconductors for power electronics.
