October 2023- The PJM Board of Managers has permitted some adjustments to the Regional Transmission Expansion Plan (RTEP) to support in assuring the most dependable, cost-effective, and effectual supply of power for nearly 65 million people PJM caters across 13 states and the District of Columbia.
The PJM Board on Oct. 3 approved three reliability projects in total that will:
Adjust relay settings at the Riverton substation on the Riverton-Bethel Tap 138 kV line to mitigate issues related to the 2025 deactivation notice of Brandon Shores 1 and 2 coal units in the APS zone.
Remove the 345 kV and 230 kV generator lead lines at the recently deactivated, coal-fired Homer City Generating Station. Install new station service supply and separate AC station service, separate protection and control schemes, and review and adjust relay protection settings.
Install a series reactor at the Springdale substation on the Cheswick-Springdale 138 kV line in the APS zone.
Baseline reliability transmission enhancement costs are allocated to PJM load.
