Nov 2023: The FDA has categorized a recall of some medical supplies manufactured by Cardinal Health as its most serious action. In this instance, the recall only refers to changing usage instructions for the impacted devices after Cardinal Health found that some of its Monoject syringe batches were incompatible with syringe pumps. No product removal is mentioned in the recall. The FDA recalled more than 32.4 million syringes supplied in the United States between June and August of this year, according to a notice in which the agency announced its Class I designation. All of them are Monoject syringes with lure-lock tips, available in sizes ranging from one to sixty milliliters. The syringes were previously marketed under the Covidien name before Cardinal Health purchased some of Covidien's medical supplies from Medtronic several years ago.
Oct 2023: Getinge declared that it has paid roughly USD 320 million to purchase all of the stock in US-based Healthmark Industries Co. Inc., a pioneer in supplying cutting-edge instrument care and infection control supplies. This calculated move helps Getinge become more well-known in the US sterile reprocessing market and allows Healthmark to expand internationally. The acquisition strengthens Getinge's position in the US infection prevention market, and Healthmark's international expansion will proceed faster thanks to our expanded customer base in Europe and Asia. Getinge acquired all 100 percent of the Healthmark shares for about USD 320 million in cash and debt-free, with a normalized working capital. Over the next five years, Getinge anticipates a modest increase in net synergies (revenues and costs) of about USD 30 million.
