Nov 2023: The biotechnology business Aldeyra Therapeutics, Inc., committed to finding and creating cutting-edge treatments for immune-mediated illnesses, has announced that it has signed an exclusive option contract with AbbVie Inc. (AbbVie). As per the conditions mentioned in the option agreement, AbbVie may purchase an exclusive license to create, manufacture, and market reproxalap outside of the United States and a co-exclusive right to do so within the country. If AbbVie decides to exercise the option, Aldeyra will get an initial payment of $100 million less option fees and a $1 million non-refundable option fee. Aldeyra would be liable to receive up to $300 million in administrative and commercial milestone payments under the terms of the license arrangement, including a $100 million milestone payment upon the approval of reproxalap for the handling of dry eye illness by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
