As cancer, IBD, arthritis, and the demand for bariatric surgery increase, the need for laparoscopy devices is going up, leading to growth in the market.

The world's population is getting older, with more people reaching an older age. By 2050, one out of every six people globally will be over 65 years old, as per the World Population Prospects 2019 revision. In North America and Europe, it's expected that one out of every four people could be aged 65 or older by 2050. The number of people aged 80 years or older is estimated to grow from 143 million in 2019 to 426 million in 2050. The rising number of older people facing various health issues worldwide directly affects the laparoscopic devices market. Older adults are more prone to health problems like gastrointestinal issues, orthopedic diseases, and cancer due to weaker immunity, making diagnosis and treatment more challenging.

Furthermore, as people age, the prevalence of obesity increases, leading to a higher demand for laparoscopic bariatric surgery. According to the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, around 252,000 bariatric surgeries were performed in 2018.
