Latest Medical Ceramics Companies Update
July 2023: CGBio, a Korean regenerative biopharmaceutical firm, announced that the Japanese Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) has granted approval to their next-generation osteo-active bioglass ceramic cage, Novomax Fusion. According to CGBio, Novomax Fusion is a synthetic glass-ceramic spacer put into where the damaged disc is removed to replace the height and angle of the disc when spinal fusion is performed to link the upper and lower vertebrae of the cervical spine owing to degenerative spinal disorders. Damage to the "herniated cervical disc" is a typical reason for its use. Medical device certification was granted for Novomax Fusion in Europe by the European Conformity Assessment Board in 2018, and in Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) in 2021.
April 2023: SiNAPTIC, Colorado-based additive manufacturing and medical device startup focused on 3D-printed solutions made with technical ceramics, and Lithoz, global market and innovation leader in ceramic 3D printing, will officially sign a major strategic sales and marketing partnership agreement. As part of the agreement, SiNAPTIC will buy seven Lithoz CeraFab S65 Medical printers for use in its new Lafayette, Colorado research facility. The official relationship will allow SiNAPTIC to sell printers, materials, and software across North America while also continuing to leverage Lithoz's advanced ceramic 3D printing technology for its own future medical device and OEM contract production. The new "SiNAPTIC powered by Lithoz" logo will be heavily promoted because it serves as a sign of the partnership between the two firms. Thanks to the partnership between Lithoz and SiNAPTIC, more companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico will have access to the ground-breaking possibilities that technical ceramics provide.
