    Mitsubishi Power, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd.’s power solutions brand, has been given the order for its two M701JAC gas turbines, which is the newest model in its air-cooled J-Series. These orders are for a 1,600-megawatt (MW) class natural gas-fired GTCC (gas turbine combined cycle) power plant, touted to be one of the biggest power facilities in the Syrdarya area of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The equipment supply deal has been inked with the Chinese contractor, Harbin Electric International Company Limited. In 2026, commercial operations are expected to begin.


    The J-series, a collection of gas turbines with over two million working hours known for their exceptional performance and dependability, including the air-cooled JAC series gas turbine used for this project. 


    For seven projects in Uzbekistan, Mitsubishi Power has secured orders for 12 large frame gas turbines, including the F and JAC-series. This represents a market share of more than 80% for large frame gas turbines in the nation.

    According to Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., the GPB17MMX, a 1.8 MW class gas turbine cogeneration system with the first combustor in the world capable of 100% dry hydrogen combustion, is now on sale.  The technology is appropriate for mixed-fuel combustion with hydrogen and natural gas. Flexible operating in reaction to changes in the hydrogen supply is made possible by the hydrogen volume ratio's adjustable range of 50 to 100%.


    Kawasaki's combustor utilises the Technology Development Project for Building a Hydrogen Society, managed by the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO).
