Cast Elastomers Market Share Analysis
All around the world, researchers are working hard to create new technologies for making a strong material called cast elastomers. For example, a company called LANXESS has come up with a special set of products called Low Free (LF) isocyanates. These include LF TDI, LF MDI, LF PPDI, and LF HDI. These products are great because they not only perform well and are easy to work with but also have advantages for the environment, health, and safety.
LANXESS uses LF technology, which allows them to make cast polyurethane (PU) elastomers using injection molding. This method is super efficient and saves a lot of money. It also helps manage waste better because it produces less leftover material and reduces the amount of scrap.
Another company, Covestro AG, has developed a prepolymer for cast elastomers that doesn't use MOCA. This is because MOCA might be banned in 2021 due to rules saying it's a "substance of very high concern." Covestro's prepolymer works well with other things added to it, like catalysts, which make reactions happen faster. One big advantage is that these prepolymers from Covestro are more versatile, meaning they can make cast elastomers with a much wider range of hardness compared to the usual prepolymers used in MOCA-based systems.
So, companies like LANXESS and Covestro are coming up with smart and safer ways to make cast elastomers. LANXESS is using LF technology to make the process efficient and reduce waste, while Covestro is finding alternatives to materials that might be harmful. This kind of research is helping to make these strong materials in better ways, making them not just high-performing but also safer for people and the environment.
