November 2023
ZF has introduced a new brake system that is entirely electromechanical and eliminates the need for hydraulic fluid. Targeting the electric vehicle market, the brake relies on an electric motor to produce braking force at each wheel, doing away with the need for a hydraulic system and brake fluid. For the global auto market, the brake system was jointly developed at ZF's centers in Germany, the USA, and China.
The new brake-by-wire system, such as Integrated Brake Control (IBC), allows for better braking energy recovery, shorter stopping distances, and lower maintenance costs when compared to conventional braking systems.
June 2023
The technology company Continental and its joint venture partner Nisshinbo Holdings have announced the opening of a new plant in Gurugram, in keeping with their "in the Market, for the Market" strategy. The joint venture involves Nisshinbo owning 60% of the shares and Continental 40%. In India, valve blocks for Continental's Electronic Brake Systems (EBS) will be produced at the new JV plant.
The valve blocks will be machined by Nisshinbo and produced in the new joint venture plant. The valve blocks will then be assembled at Continental's plant in Gurugram to form a complete unit. The need for electronic brake systems is enormous and is only going to increase due to the growing number of safe technologies in cars, which will ultimately help the sector and end users.Â
Including Anti-lock Brake Systems (ABS) for passenger cars and two-wheelers, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) for passenger cars, Continental has produced 7.3 million EBS units in India to date. Â
