  October 2023: CJ Foods, a division of CJ CheilJedang in South Korea, has partnered with T&R Biofab to use 3D bioprinting technology to create a new kind of meat. T&R Biofab is a medical technology business that uses cutting-edge 3D bioprinting technology in the field of regenerative medicine to create artificial tissues. By working together, the two cutting-edge Korean businesses want to improve the quality of new plant-based alternative protein products in terms of flavor, texture, appearance, and nutrition by capitalizing on synergies between the food sector and the 3D printing medical profession. Both businesses anticipate that the expansion of the plant-based alternative protein food market beyond the current offers will provide additional opportunities for expansion. Beyond animal rights, people are increasingly gravitating toward plant-based diets for their health, nutrition, and environmental benefits. One obstacle, however, still remained: recreating the meaty crunch and smoothness of traditional dishes.

Using CELLINK's technology for automated processes, Carcinotech has become a market leader in manufacturing 3D bioprinted micro-tumors and 3D models based on cancer cell lines. Carcinotech has helped the pharmaceutical industry by developing 3D bioprinted micro-tumors using patient-derived biopsies, immune cells, and cancer stem cells to aid researchers in optimizing drug testing procedures. The BIO CELLX methods will use 3D models made from cell lines, which will drastically cut down on research times.
