Nations Worldwide Agres on Banning Plastic to Improve Sustainability

By Shubhendra Anand , 26 December, 2024

The industrial sector gains momentum to ban single-use plastic in 2024. Countries hope to reduce plastic pollution by banning single-use plastics. This is due to the growing affinity of the countries to use plastic as their packaging. Hence, a survey by the United Nations shows that 175 countries have legally come together to stop plastic pollution by the end of 2024. Clean energy transformation leads to several environmentally friendly demands. Among them, a ban on plastic is one of the major to be covered. Plastic usage is a significant concern for harmful gas emissions. The ban on plastic will lead to a positive acceleration of green transformation in 2024.

Based on that survey, nations agreed to a legally binding agreement to ban single-use plastic in 2024. Single-use plastic, such as straws, cutlery, and others, is more harmful to nature as most products cannot be recycled. There is a growing concern about the increase in plastic usage in the market. The human bloodstream shows particles of microplastics in 2024. The survey estimates that humans breathe in about 78,000 to 211,000 microplastic particles annually. Hence, it can cause serious health problems in humans. This study shows that we are indulging in plastic unknowingly daily. The primary source of microplastics in the human body comes from bottled water.

The study shows that 85 percent of people globally demand a plastic ban in 2024. Experts claim that support from countries like the United States, China, and the European Union can help ban plastic. There are several benefits to banning single-use plastics in the industry. It will significantly reduce plastic waste in the environment. Hence, plastic pollution will be reduced over time in upcoming years.

Further, it will boost sustainability in the industrial sector. The ban on single-use plastics will also lead to a sustainable approach in the manufacturing sector. Lastly, the ban on single-use plastic will raise consumer awareness. Hence, they will opt for more sustainable products as an alternative to plastics. A shift from plastics to sustainable alternatives by consumers will drive the economy.
