Electricity Plays Pivotal Role In Climate Change Of 2024

By Shubhendra Anand , 17 January, 2024

The rise in global temperature may see a solution that can control the surface temperature on Earth in a balanced position in 2024. The environmental temperature can be prevented from going up with clean energy transition by following various techniques. The focus on the cooling capacity of electric appliances throughout 2024 will be more to accelerate the clean energy transition.

According to recent survey reports from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the number of cooling appliances will increase by 2050, indicating more electricity consumption will be initiated from the current year, 2024. The release of refrigerant gases will also increase since the electricity consumption will increase with the cooling devices. Analysts view climate change as an essential concern of 2024, with cooling appliances increasing the emissions from electricity in 2024. Clean energy transitions target net zero emissions by 2050 with different initiatives like electrification in transportation, reducing fossil fuel usage, increasing solar and wind energy, and others. Based on another survey, 2023 was expected to be one of the hottest years of the decade. The data shows that the temperature for the land and ocean was 0.88 degrees Celsius in 2019, which stands to be the hottest year on record of the decade. Analysts expect 2024 to be the hottest year on record due to the global energy transition.

Another survey shows that electrification is the key to new changes in the next twenty to thirty years by the end of 2050. The reason behind electrification explains the electricity grid to be implemented in the energy system, which indicates an increase in grids by 20 percent in 2024 and 50 percent in 2050. The climate change ambition of 2024 aims to increase electrification in transportation but, at the same time, reduce electricity in cooling appliances to decrease refrigerant gases. Therefore, electrification is an essential factor in 2024 for climate change purposes.
