October 2023- Wavr LLC, a US-headquartered company, has built a wave energy converter (WEC) that could be utilized for low-power marine functions. Wavr established its first models for buyers, such as boat owners. The firm asserts that the system is specially designed particularly for the water level with weak waves, as its advanced design can boost up the needed power output by incorporating more systems in a range constitution.
October 2023- Gavin Newsom, the California Governor, on October 24 attested SB 605 into law, signifying a substantial stance in the direction of bringing the latest renewable energy resource to the state and further strengthening the state's pledge to a sustainable and clean energy future. The law asks for a broad research and evaluation of wave and tidal energy strength along California's coastline of nearly 840 miles. The bill was simultaneously passed in both the California State Senate and Assembly. The law– presented by Senator Steve Padilla (D-San Diego) and backed by AltaSea at the Port of Los Angeles – leads the California Energy Commission to function with several stakeholders and state agencies in order to evaluate the price, capacity, and viability of installing wave and tidal energy technology across California's coastline. Senator Padilla said that Ocean energy is one of the biggest intact resources of renewable energy, and California is also well-situated to exploit that energy and boost-up the state’s transformation to 100% clean energy while generating well-paying jobs. He further thanked the strate Governor for passing this vital legislation into law.
