DENSO Corporation and KOITO Manufacturing Co., Ltd. have disclosed their collaborative endeavors aimed at enhancing nighttime driving safety by synchronizing lamps and sensors to increase the object recognition rate of vehicle image sensors. Both businesses aim to improve car safety and reduce the number of people killed in traffic accidents.

DENSO stated that KOITO has improved visibility at night using lighting technologies like ADBs, or adaptive driving beams. In order to maximize visibility without blinding oncoming drivers, these beams adapt in real-time. Furthermore, as the "eyes" of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems, DENSO has developed sensors that are able to sense the environment around an automobile. Additionally, during the night, the company is refining these sensors' capacity to identify objects in a variety of traffic scenarios.

According to DENSO, this collaboration will combine KOITO's driving-beam photometry control technology expertise with DENSO's image sensor object recognition capabilities. Creating a system that improves vehicle safety at night is their common objective.
