Latest Company Updates:
On Oct. 02, 2023, EFFECT Photonics, a leading highly integrated optical solutions developer, announced the successful verification of its fully integrated InP-based Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) tunable laser for the world's smallest digital ITLA for coherent applications. This fully integrated InP PIC can support 100G, 400G, and 800G ZR applications and will likely become a breakthrough for the smallest tunable laser assembly for coherent applications.
On Mar. 16, 2023, Researchers at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) and IBM announced the development of a novel laser that could considerably impact optical ranging technology. Researchers integrated lithium niobate with silicon nitride, enabling them to produce this hybrid integrated tunable laser.
These integrated circuits for light (photonic integrated circuits) were manufactured using technology based on silicon nitride at EPFL and bonded with lithium niobate wafers at IBM. Further, they executed an optical ranging experiment using the laser to quantify distances with high accuracy.
On Feb. 22, 2023, EFFECT Photonics announced the development of a novel Pico Tunable Laser Assembly (pTLA) that can address the growing demand for 100G coherent transceivers in access networks. EFFECT Photonics' new pTLA tunable laser is designed for the optical network edge, and it supports industrial and commercial-temperature (I-temp and C-temp) operating ranges.
Besides, it offers an ideal combination of power, cost, and size to enable transceiver form factors to upgrade existing infrastructures to a scalable 100 Gbps coherent solution. Also, EFFECT Photonics' new pTLA utilizes the existing microelectronics ecosystem to allow manufacturing at scale and complementary coherent products & services, such as DSPs, for those providers who need a complete transceiver solution.
