October 2023- UPM Specialty Papers, Lantmännen Unibake and Adara have worked together to create a new packaging made from fibers that replaces plastic bags as the primary packaging for frozen baked goods. Frozen baked items need packaging that provides some resistance to grease and moisture while keeping the baked goods inside fresh. Lantmännen Unibake, one of the largest bakery groups in Europe that specializes in frozen bakery products for retail and food service, is actively looking for more sustainable packaging solutions for transporting frozen baked goods. This new innovative fiber-based packaging for frozen bakery products is a collaborative effort between UPM Specialty Papers, Lantmännen Unibake and Adara. It demonstrates how they can reduce the use of plastic in food packaging by partnering with industry players.
