Avnet Embedded has introduced NXP's i.MX 93 solder-on modules. The new OSM* 1.1 standard (Size-S) "Small" compliant compact MSC OSM-SF-IMX93 OSM computing modules from Avnet Embedded measure 30 x 30 mm. The NXP* Semiconductors i.MX 93 applications processors are integrated into the scalable standard module family.
The MSC OSM-SF-IMX93 OSM modules, which come in a pre-tinned LGA package, are ideal for fully automated soldering, assembly, and testing processes. They can be soldered straight to the PCB. Comparing this module form factor to current ones, significant cost savings can be realised by removing the need for a connector and reducing the number of production steps. The solder-on modules are designed with large volume usage in mind.
The primary industrial low-power applications for the compact MSC OSM-SF-IMX93 module family are those that require small dimensions or are cost-sensitive. Typical instances include home automation programmes, industrial control systems, and small gateways that are optimised for the Internet of Things. The OSM boards have an especially strong shock and vibration resistance.
