Sylke Inc. has introduced SYLKE, the first dressing composed entirely of silk fibroin that is hypoallergenic. SYLKE is intended to improve healing from surgical wounds and to lessen complications and infections that may result in unfavorable scarring. SYLKE adhesive wound closure prototype outperformed DERMABOND PRINEO (p<0.001) across all measures, according to head-to-head data published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal (ASJ) Open Forum. This resulted in a significant reduction in the incidence of medical adhesive-related skin injuries (MARSIs).
By eradicating medical adhesive-related skin injuries that result in complications like infections andunfavorablee scarring outcomes, SYLKE™️ seeks to revolutionize surgical wound care.
The SYLKE prototype significantly outperformed DERMABOND PRINEO (p<0.001) in a head-to-head clinical trial on all measures, including dressing removal time (47 seconds vs. 1 minute and 39 seconds), ACD including rash, itching, and erythema (irritated, red skin) (0% vs. 52%), and skin discomfort (4% vs. 64%). Procedures for abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), body lift, breast reduction, and mastopexy (breast lift) were assessed using SYLKETM and DERMABOND PRINEO.
March 2023
Tatcha has introduced The Silk Serum, a wrinkle-smoothing formula that resembles retinol and is meant to visibly firm, boost radiance, and support skin that has lost collagen while hydrating and lowering redness. Skin appears and feels soft, smooth, and radiant thanks to the product's silk extracts and Tatcha's exclusive Hadasei-3TM complex.
Because silk is biocompatible with human skin and tissue, it helps hydrate the skin, improve elasticity, fight pollution, and speed up cellular regeneration. It also helps minimize the appearance of fine lines.
