The first trial of WJ's ThermoPrint road marking vehicle on the National Highways network has concluded. Road markings for Ringway were put in place on the A47 near Postwick, east of Norwich, using this machine. It used its scanning technology to update the pre-existing arrow markings and painted an arrow and "All Other Routes" signage.

Workers can lay road markings from the comfort of the cab thanks to the vehicle's scanners, which automatically match preprogrammed designs to any existing markings. All of the road symbols used on the UK network are also programmed into ThermoPrint's onboard technology.

Trysil Maskin, a Norwegian manufacturer of road marking machines, created it and calls it the Trafficprinter. WJ, a road marking specialist, is the first client in the UK. Thermoplastic road markings were previously applied by hand with hand moulds. This device is supposed to operate more quickly because it eliminates the possibility of burns from manual handling and does away with the requirement for pre-marking prior to installation.

In October 2021 An Austrian transportation technology group Swarco announced the acquisition of a Cheshire road marking company named Hitex. Companies of the Hitex group continue to work for road safety. Swarco believes that with the acquisition of Hitex, the search would turn into a giant company assuring market opportunities and known as a highly reputed, good market penetrator company with a developmental vision.

January 2021 THI's long-term pan-European private equity firm company obtained a majority stake in road markings and constructing highway goods and services.
