The ENTERATM aerogel particle portfolio has been launched by Cabot Corporation. A thermal insulation additive called ENTERA aerogel particles was created to make it possible to create incredibly thin thermal barriers for lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles (EVs). Three ENTERA aerogel products from Cabot have been introduced in this portfolio, which formulators can use to create a variety of thermal barrier forms, such as blankets, pads, sheets, films, foams, and coatings.
In addition to assisting battery and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers in adhering to the new regulations, Cabot's ENTERA aerogel products offer a lightweight thermal barrier solution that combines low thermal conductivity with thermal stability. The three types of Cabot ENTERA aerogel particles in its portfolio are ENTERA EV5200, ENTERA EV5400, and ENTERA EV5800, and their sizes vary from microns to millimetres.
Moreover, Cabot's ENTERA aerogel, which has an air volume of over 90%, is up to 20 times lighter than conventional insulating additives used in thermal barriers. It is crucial to use lightweight materials in EVs to reduce the weight of the batteries, boost efficiency, increase driving range, and lengthen battery life. Â
