MKS Instruments has introduced a new alkaline zinc-nickel plating system that has received TÜV Rheinland certification. For alkaline zinc-nickel plating, the new Atotech Compact Membrane Anode (CMA) closed-loop system virtually eliminates wastewater generation and lowers carbon footprint.

Under the Materials Solutions Division of MKS, Atotech is a brand that creates manufacturing and process technologies for electrolysis, advanced surface modification, electrolytic plating, and surface finishing.

The new closed-loop system is a comprehensive solution that handles all aspects, including rinsing, of the alkaline zinc-nickel plating process. It has a CMA, vacuum evaporator, freezing unit, and custom chemical additives, all of which help to greatly reduce environmental impact, improve product quality, and extend the life of the electroplating line.

For the zinc-nickel plating industry, the new Atotech CMA closed-loop system is a "game-changer," as it eliminates waste generation from the start, as opposed to relying on existing costly and unsustainable wastewater treatment methods.
