Apr 2023: A fortified rice kernel production plant has been opened by Royal DSM, a firm that provides health and nutrition solutions, close to Hyderabad. It is an ISO 22000: 2018 compliant facility with an annual production objective of 3,600 tonnes of kernels. DSM's method creates new rice kernels by blending vitamins and minerals with broken rice and securely "locking them in" using a heated extrusion process. DSM anticipates that the plant in Hyderabad will act as a base of operations for supplying South Asia and India.
