September 2023: AWAK Technologies (AWAK), an innovative medical technology firm specializing in dialysis through the utilization of regeneration technology to treat end-stage renal disease, declared today that it has raised over $20 million in Series B funding. This achievement not only signifies the most considerable fundraising effort by MedTech, but also ranks among the most sizable in Southeast Asia thus far this year. Lion X Ventures and Vickers Venture Partners, both venture capital firms, co-led the round alongside Advanced MedTech, Eckuity Capital, a healthcare venture capital fund based in the United States, and an investment office that manages multibillion-dollar assets in the healthcare sector. AWAK PD, an ultraportable and wearable peritoneal dialysis (PD) system, provides patients with the flexibility to perform dialysis at home or while traveling, thereby addressing the issue that patients requiring dialysis currently face: long hours of stationary therapy and connection to large-scale dialysis machines in hospitals and clinics.
April 2023: Medtronic, a medical device company, collaborated with DaVita to establish Mozarc Medical, an enterprise dedicated to the advancement of renal care technologies, with a particular emphasis on at-home remedies. It was disclosed almost a year ago that Medtronic and DaVita each hold an equal equity stake in the company. Executives of both DaVita and Medtronic verified that the two companies contributed $200 million in cash as initial funding to launch the business. Future operating capital will be contributed by the corporations in order to sustain the operations of the organization. A six-member board of directors will supervise Mozarc; two members will be appointed from each company and two will be independent directors. According to the companies, Mozarc Medical will leverage DaVita's expertise in dialysis services and Medtronic's proficiency in medical devices to expand the capacity of dialysis delivery systems and other technologies utilized in the treatment of advanced stages of kidney disease.List of Kidney Dialysis Equipment Key companies in the market
