April 2024: in recent years, the competition to create humanoid robots for business use has been intense. This month, SUPCON Technology Co. announced the Zhejiang Humanoid Robot Innovation Center as well as its first self-developed humanoid Navigator α. March 2024: NVIDIA today announced Project GR00T, a general-purpose foundation model for humanoid robots designed to continue driving breakthroughs in robotics and embodied AI. As part of this initiative, the company also revealed a new computer called Jetson Thor for humanoid robots based on NVIDIA’s Thor system-on-a-chip (SoC), along with major upgrades to NVIDIA Isaac™ robotics platform such as generative AI foundation models and tools for simulation & AI workflow infrastructure.


December 2023: Tesla released a demo video demonstrating the latest version of its prototype humanoid robot, Optimus Gen 2. It appears much has changed in the year since Tesla's initial public Optimus robot demonstration, in which they showed off shaky robots that waved and slumped over. The promo video begins with a shot of "Bumblebee," Tesla's first humanoid prototype from September 2022; then it shows "Optimus - Gen 1" from March 2023 before teasing another robot, leading up to text on the screen that reads “Introducing Optimus - Gen 2.”


October 2023: Amazon will be testing out humanoid robots in its US warehouses as it continues to automate more aspects of its operations. The move is about “freeing employees up to better deliver for our customers,” said Amazon, who added that they’re testing a new robot named Digit, which has arms and legs and can move around, grasp items, and do things just like a human would be able to. An Amazon workers union said that “Amazon has been treating their workers like robots for years.”
