Oct 2023: During a quarterly results call with investors, Johnson & Johnson MedTech executives announced that the company is restructuring its DePuy Synthes orthopedic business. After reporting 2.6% revenue growth in Q3, the business said the two-year reorganization exercise will remove the orthopedics unit from "less profitable markets and product lines" to increase the division's profitability. The restructuring, he said, will increase the unit's capacity to match product demand and should be finished by the end of 2025 for $700 million to $800 million. Following J&J MedTech's announcement in March that it would reorganize and lay off at least 1,000 people, DePuy Synthes has announced its restructuring. Compared to J&J MedTech's other businesses, the DePuy Synthes business has not been as busy.
