Mexichem Fluor, S.A.de C.V. (Koura), an Orbia company engaged in the production of fluorine compounds and raw fluorinated materials, has given Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) the order for the front-end engineering and design (FEED) of a hydrogen fluoride production plant, including utility facilities, in Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture's Hibikinada Oceanfront Industrial Park.
Mexichem Fluor Japan and the general trading company Sojitz Corporation are partners in the project. MHI stated that Mexican fluorspar from Koura will be used to create hydrogen fluoride.
