CJ Biomaterials, located in Woburn, Massachusetts, is advancing its environmentally friendly amorphous polyhydroxyalkanoate (aPHA) technology to a commercial level. For the Clean It Zero Ceramide Cleansing Balm, the company has introduced its first cosmetics jar in Asia, made from its aPHA. It's the first cosmetic jar made with amorphous polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) technology, developed by CJ Biomaterials. Additionally, it represents CJ Biomaterials' debut into the injection moulding industry.
The product, from Banila Co. in Korea, comes packaged in an injection-molded jar composed of polylactic acid (PLA) and CJ Biomaterials' PHACT aPHA. CJ Olive Young health and beauty stores all over South Korea sell the balm.
PHACT, according to CJ Biomaterials, is a more flexible and softer form of PHA that exhibits distinct performance attributes from crystalline or semi-crystalline PHA. Bacterial fermentation of sugar from natural sources like corn, sugar cane, cassava, and cellulosic biomass produces PHACT.

Tosca has introduced a new life cycle analysis (LCA) tool that encourages businesses to use its foldable Intermediate Bulk Container (IBC) solutions in order to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions, water use, and fossil fuel consumption during bulk liquid transportation.
The tool, which reportedly has the support of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, makes use of Trayak's Compass platform to analyse how much water and fossil fuels a company uses, as well as how much greenhouse gas emissions it emits with its present container fleet. Tosca's reusable, foldable IBCs are compared to these indicators in order to provide life cycle assessment (LCA) data regarding the impact of the change from birth to death.
