Manufacturing company Hubron International and Graphene Flagship-associated member Graphenest have created a new strategic collaboration. Their shared objective is to research the development and commercialization of masterbatch and compounds based on graphene-based polymers with unparalleled electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding properties for the manufacture of electronic enclosures.
A thermoplastic based on graphene that may be utilized as an excellent EMI shielding solution in medium-high and high frequencies (for 5G and beyond) will be the first item in this new product line. The partnership combines Graphenest's expertise in the synthesis of graphene, the development of shielding solutions, and IP knowledge with Hubron International's competence in black masterbatch and conductive polymers for electric and electronic equipment.
According to Graphenest, polymeric compounds based on graphene that can efficiently block high concentrations of millimetre waves and microwaves (5G/6G) will become increasingly important in the near future. The greatest conductive polymers, specifically designed for the E-mobility and Electronics industries, will be developed thanks to the combination of Hubron's masterbatch and compound experience and Graphenest technology.

Tosaf Colour Service claims that their newly created, universally applicable masterbatch carrier technology now satisfies all typical food contact standards. These include the FDA and China's Food Safety Law, as well as the recommendations of the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and other intricate and many regulatory standards.Â
Tosaf asserts that any colour, where appropriate, functional, as well as combination masterbatches based on this carrier system can be utilised globally without the requirement of any suitable applications, ranging from translucent and opaque rigid and flexible packaging, toys and household items, to components for machinery and equipment used in food processing.
Major players in the black masterbatch market, including Ampacet Corporation, Plastika Kritis S.A. Tosaf Compounds Limited, LyondellBasell. Avient Corporation, Penn color Inc and others, are attempting to increase market demand by investing in R&D operations.
