Maruti Suzuki added a cutting-edge safety feature to the Grand Vitara Hybrid. In an effort to improve pedestrian safety, the vehicle's powerful hybrid versions will now be outfitted with the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS).
The low-level alert sound that AVAS is intended to produce serves to notify surrounding pedestrians of the vehicle's presence. This feature is especially important when the Grand Vitara is running on electricity, as the lack of engine noise could potentially surprise onlookers. As the sound is audible up to five feet away from the vehicle, pedestrians are sufficiently alerted to take the necessary safety measures.
Maruti Suzuki guarantees adherence to Automotive Industry Standard (AIS) 173 by integrating AVAS. This standard requires a pedestrian warning system to be installed in all fuel-cell vehicles, electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, and fuel-cell hybrid vehicles with at least one electric motor or electric motor generator. Volvo Trucks has introduced a number of new safety systems for its vehicles with the goal of improving the safety of pedestrians and cyclists while also making driving easier for drivers.
The newly added Front Short Range Assist is one of the features. Using a front radar and camera, the system is intended to identify whether a cyclist or pedestrian is in the risk area in front of the truck and alert the driver if there is an immediate risk of a collision. A new door-opening warning system is another feature. This system is intended to sound an alert whenever a vehicle, bicycle, or pedestrian approaches the truck from the rear on the same side that the door is open.
