Automotive Elastomers
November 2023
At Formnext 2023, Inkbit debuted its TEPU 50A elastomer. This new material is a thiol-ene polyurethane-based elastomer that is intended to satisfy the precise requirements of intricate components with a low compression set, UV stability, and chemical compatibility. It is distinguished by its Shore 50A durometer, a measure of the material's hardness.
The new TEPU 50A, along with the TEPU 30A, completes Inkbit's Vista ecosystem by providing a medium-soft material that is ideal for sealing and compressing applications. It offers a substitute for silicones, molded TPUs, and soft rubber parts during prototyping or replacement. The versatility of this material allows for a wide range of applications, including gaskets, window and door seals, soft grippers, and grommets.
TEPU 50A is designed to outperform conventional moulded or cast silicones and rubbers, providing manufacturers in the automotive and other industrial sectors with cutting-edge solution.
March 2023
At its Jhagadia location, the speciality chemicals company Lanxess officially broke ground on a new production line for Rhenodiv - New Technology Release agents, which is part of its Business Unit Rhein Chemie. The business unit will use this facility to meet the expanding needs of the Indian market for rubber goods and tyres. It is anticipated that the project will be finished in 2024's first quarter.
Modern machinery and technology on the new production line will enable Lanxess to create premium technology tyre release agents more quickly.
Effective release agents are essential to the manufacturing of moulded elastomer products and high-performance tyres. Tyres and moulded elastomer articles must be produced efficiently, with low scrap rates and process safety being essential.
