September 2023: The Waters Corporation released new bioprocess walk-up solutions in September 2023 with the intention of streamlining the process of preparing and analyzing biological samples. Upstream bioprocess development may be sped up by up to six weeks using the new technologies because there is no longer a requirement to send samples from bioreactors to a central laboratory for examination. Bioprocess engineers may now easily collect high-quality data on bioprocesses and medicinal products using the latest iteration of Waters OneLabTM laboratory automation software and newly built analytical workflows.

October 2023: While cell treatments show great potential, several businesses have struggled to produce tailored medications at scale. As BlueRock Therapeutics develops its primary candidate, parent firm Bayer is prepared to increase output. It is hoped that the new facility, Bayer's first Cell Therapy Launch Facility, would enable the company to offer cell medicines to patients all over the world. Bayer spent $250 million on the factory, which has a 100,000 square foot footprint and will first produce ingredients for late-stage clinical studies.

August 2023: The integrated bioreactor system, which combines the Biostat STR® bioreactor from Sartorius with the XCell ATF upstream intensification technology from Repligen, was released in August of 2023. According to both organizations, this partnership will help biopharmaceutical producers streamline the use of enhanced seed trains and nitrogen perfusion. The Biostat STR now has an incorporated XCell ATF hardware and software module that is completely interoperable with the rest of the system, providing predefined advanced control recipes with built-in Process Analytical Technology (PAT). Sartorius, noting that this technology eliminates the need for a separate cell retention control tower, providing a more simplified approach to regulating cell growth and enhancing cell retention during perfusion procedures.
