October 2023 –KBR revealed on 3rd October that it had authorized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SolydEra to offer an integrated solution for producing lesser-cost clean Ammonia using renewable energy. By the MoU terms, KBR will incorporate SolydEra's Solid Oxide Electrolysis (SOE) technology into its proprietary K-GreeN® process to offer highly effective green ammonia capacity worldwide. The sequence of KBR and SolydEra technologies is anticipated to offer the most competitive levelized costs of carbon-neutral Ammonia to boost the energy transition globally. KBR President of Technology, Doug Kelly, said that they are happy to work with SolydEra to build new pathways for sustainable green ammonia production. He further added that KBR's innovative zero-carbon green ammonia technology, when incorporated with SolydEra's highly effective Solid Oxide Electrolyzer, will drive the cost efficiencies required to make clean Ammonia a competitive energy alternative. SolydEra's Chairman and CEO, Martin Füllenbach, said that Ammonia is the global energy transition and anticipates one of the biggest-volume chemicals supplied worldwide and exponential demand growth. The company is proud to work with KBR, and by offering SolydEra's innovative SOE technology, the company makes a great contribution to the development of an efficient carbon-neutral ammonia production system.
October 2023- Japan's top oil and gas producer, Inpex, and its partners have joined forces to study developing a low-carbon ammonia production and export project on the Houston Ship Channel in the United States, Inpex stated on Tuesday. Japan is having a bet on Ammonia, which it wants to utilize to lower emissions by mixing it with coal to fire power plants and for use in other industries.
