Pune, India, December 19, 2017/MRFR Press Release/- Market Research Future published a Cooked  research report on “Global Diesel Exhaust Fluid Market Research Report - Forecast to 2023”                    – Market Analysis, Scope, Stake, Progress, Trends and Forecast to 2023

Cummins Filtration (U.S.), Nissan Chemical Industries (Japan), Yara International (Norway), Shaw Development LLC (U.S.), CF Industries Holdings (U.S.), The McPherson Companies (U.S.), BASF SE (Germany), Blue Sky Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) (U.S.), Brenntag AG (Germany), Carson (Portland) and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Japan)., and others are some of the prominent players profiled in MRFR Analysis and are at the forefront of competition in the global Diesel Exhaust Fluid market.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Global Market – Overview

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a fluid, consisting of high-purity urea and de-ionized water in a 1:2 solution, which is necessary for the operation of SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology. DEF is a not a fuel additive, and is colorless, non-toxic, non-flammable fluid harmless to living beings. The reactant chemically reduces nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) from exhaust systems. According to a recent study report published by the Market Research Future, The global market of Diesel Exhaust Fluid is booming and expected to gain prominence over the forecast period. The market is forecasted to demonstrate a stunning growth by 2023, surpassing its previous growth records in terms of value with a striking CAGR during the estimated period (2017 – 2023).

Selective Catalytic Reduction is the most effective technology that is used to reduce harmful emission from the exhaust system. This technology injects urea through a catalyst in the exhaust system of diesel engines. The urea that is used as a diesel exhaust fluid converts nitrogen oxide in nitrogen and water. SCR technology is mainly used to reduce nitrogen oxide emission upto 90%, at the same time reducing HC and Co emission by 50-60%. SCR systems are also attached with the diesel particulate filter in order to reduce greater emission that can harm the environment. The increased use of SCR for the reduction of emission allows more light duty vehicles to meet the requirement of EPA emission regulations.

SCR technology is mostly used in Europe’s Heavy duty trucks and bus manufacturers where the urea is certified, and is known as AdBlue. Urea SCR has been preferred by a number of manufacturers as a technology that meets the requirement of Euro V standard. This increased use of SCR technology in diesel exhaust fluid, is expected to lead to the growth of diesel exhaust fluid market in the forecast period. The first diesel truck was launched in Japan by Nissan Diesel that was equipped with this technology and currently it is the most trending technology for the emission reduction.

The manufacturer who wants to certify the engine and vehicle has to first demonstrate that the emission control systems are durable and would not harm the environment. For the control of emission, the government has set some regulations in order to protect the environment. API Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) certification program is a government program that is set to certify and monitor the quality of the diesel exhaust fluid used in diesel engine vehicles. Manufacturers who have satisfied the requirements of ISO 22241 (Diesel engines – NOx reduction agent AUS 32), have the license to display the mark of API Diesel Exhaust Fluid Certification.

The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has set a criteria for the minimal refill of diesel exhaust fluid in order to reduce the nitrogen oxide emission. The increase in stringent government regulations has enabled the vehicle manufacturer to use diesel exhaust fluid in order to reduce emission. This increase in use of diesel exhaust fluids, will lead to the growth of this market.

Industry/ Innovation/ Related News:

The key strategies followed by most companies within the global Diesel Exhaust Fluid market are that of new product development.

In 2016, CF Industries completed the expansion of new ammonia and urea plants at Port Neal, Iowa. This expansion will generate increase in cash capability.

On November 2017, Yara International acquired leading nitrogen provider Agronomic Technology Corp (ATC), in U.S. so as to improve the sustainability of farmer profitability.

On February 2015, Cummins Filtration had introduced Lube filtration for ISX15 diesel engines. This development will bring change in the performance of heavy-duty diesel engine market.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Market:

Regional Analysis

North America has witnessed the most significant increase in capacity of Nitrogen in the coming years. North America is the third largest region in nitrogen consumption, following India and China. This increase in the consumption of nitrogen have led to the growth of urea demand, which will drive the diesel exhaust fluid market. In 2015, CF Industries had started a new urea plant in Donaldsonville in order to cater North America region. North America is mainly dependent on import of nitrogen, due to which the market is expected to growth in the forecast period. This dependency on nitrogen will lead to the growing consumption of urea, which will drive the diesel exhaust fluid market. It is estimated that approximately three quarter of the world ammonia is used in the production of fertilizer that includes urea. In U.S., approximately 70% of the ammonia is used for the production of urea. About half of the urea that is produced in U.S. is consumed as solid fertilizers, and more than 25% of urea is consumed to produce nitrogen based solutions. This increase in the consumption of urea is expected to drive the growth of diesel exhaust fluid market.

The diesel market in Europe is expected to decline in the forecast period due to the extra cost of diesel powertrain and growing market of electric vehicles. The U.S. Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has set criteria for the minimal refill of diesel exhaust fluid in order to reduce the nitrogen oxide emission. This strict regulation, has led the vehicle manufacturer to use diesel exhaust fluid in order to reduce emission.
