Clean Energy Transition Affects Jobs in the Energy Sector

By Shubhendra Anand , 19 December, 2024

A rapid growth of energy expansion with renewables is happening in the energy market 2024. It anticipates continuing for the next two decades until the shift in energy transformation takes a positive angle. Clean energy transition in the global scenario is a crucial issue addressing essential economic sectors. A survey shows that the clean energy transition is progressing, creating more economic employment.

Based on the results taken from the 2024 survey, the energy market is creating jobs in the market. Hence, experts claim that clean energy transformation can increase the employment rate by 2050. In contrast, another survey shows that clean energy transformation can also result in the loss of jobs. The fossil fuel industries are losing jobs, while the renewable energy market is creating new job opportunities in 2024. The shift in the energy market is affecting the job sector heavily. Research shows that the clean energy sector lacks skilled laborers. However, the fossil fuel industry is losing laborers due to a shift in the energy market.

Additionally, the workers struggle to transition jobs due to geographical challenges. Some experts believe the fossil fuel industry is losing jobs in the oil and gas industries. In contrast, the recent survey shows that it is not limited to the oil and gas industry. Workers and their families have depended on the fossil fuel sector for years. The increasing transformation in the energy sector severely affects the financial conditions of lower-middle-class families.

Therefore, experts cite that government and private sectors should speak up about the current employment issues due to energy transformation. The clean energy sector currently demands a more significant number of workers. Hence, the government should introduce programs in the skill-enhancement sector to train workers. Moreover, the industries and companies involved in the clean energy transition should ensure the job security of the trained workers. Further, introducing skill-enhancement training will help attain the progress of green transformation targets by the end of 2050.
